At the start of the online checkers game, all checkers may only move in the direction of the opposite side of the board by moving diagonally from one square to another vacant square. How to king, when a checker reaches the opposite end of the checker board, the checker is crowned and becomes a king checker (denoted by a special mark). On subsequent king plays, a king can move in any diagonal direction on the game board. If a diagonal square is occupied by an opponent's
checker, and with a vacant square beyond, the
opponent's checker must be jumped over and
captured. Always, the player must continue
jumping if possible to do so. The only one
exception to this rule is, that when an
uncrowned checker piece jumps into the king
row (the opposite side of the checkers board),
this king cannot jump again until the players
next turn. When there is more than one way
to jump (jump choices), the player may
choose which jump is preferable to take. |
