We have a block of 15 rooms
reserved under "North Carolina Checker Tournament"
at a special rate of $49.00 for 1 bed and
$59.00 for 2 beds (queens). Rooms will
be held until May 1st.
Accommodations: 2queen beds, 25" tv
- microwave, micro fridge, coffee maker,
iron, hair dryer, alarm clock, expanded
cable with HBO, Free Parking, Free Breakfast,
Swimming Pool, Wi-Fi, Playing Room, Several restaurants
& eateries close by.
Tournament Agenda:
Registration will be handled in the playing room on Friday morning between 8:00 - 8:45 AM. A short business meeting is scheduled following registration. Play begins 10:00 AM Friday. The entry fee is $25.00 for Class A, and $20.00 for Class B. Door prizes, certificates, and trophies to highest finishers will be awarded. Cash prize paid according to posted schedule. Any contributions to support the tournament or Prize Fund will be appreciated.
The tournament will be played under 3-Move Ballot, using the Swiss System of scoring, with possible re-pairing only in the last two rounds. Three divisions if we have enough players to support it; otherwise, 2 groups. A youth tournament is scheduled for Friday evening (see below). There will be 8 rounds at 2 games per round - 1 hour per game. Openings per round using the 156 Deck; Score by games, 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 3 for a bye, and 4 for a forfeit. We will play 4 rounds Friday of 2 hours per round - 1 round before lunch and break for a 1 hour lunch. Then 3 rounds afterwards, an early start of 8AM for 4 rounds Saturday - 2 rounds before lunch, then break for a 1 hour lunch at 12:00, and 2 afterwards, hopefully finished by 6PM permitting adequate travel time back home. We encourage Masters to use clocks (30 moves per hour) and record games. Bring your own or use a provided clock & recorder sheet. Majors and Minors may do the same, but optional. “Move-a-minute” rules will not be applied if clocks are used. Referee and Scorekeeper will be Tim Laverty. There will be fruit, drinks (soft/coffee/water), and finger food in the playing room.

We will play 3-Move - five 2 game rounds (Swiss Style) of 1 hour & 15 minutes each.
There is a $15.00 entry fee - Registration Opens: 9:00AM -
Play begins 10:00AM - Lunch break after two rounds.
(We agreed to eat lunch with Libby Hill for the privilege to use
their private room 8:30am - 6:00pm).
Tim Laverty - will be the Referee & Scorekeeper.
Location will have a “Checker Tournament” sign at driveway entrance.
