Checkers Around the World Invented Checkers Variants
Checkersaurus Rex Game
(1977)

Checkersaurus Rex like many game kits of that
era contained two different games that were
intended purely for younger children. The first
checkersaurus rex game was a simple version of
Checkers played with a collection of dinosaurs,
wherein the Tyrannosaurus Rex miniatures were
used for kings. The other Checkersaurus Rex
game was a relatively trivial roll and move
play adapted to chutes and ladders and then
combined with some childish silliness such
as landing on the "Dino
Stomp" square which meant that
the player must stand up and stomp about the
table, landing on the "Dino
Roar" square required that the
player emit a throaty roar, "Dino
Food" can best be left up to the
reader’s imagination. Both checkersaurus
games were made for children to develop skills
in learning and following rules, but also more
to simply have fun playing the game.
