Checkers Around the World Invented Checkers Variants
Checkers 2000 Game
(2000)

At the time of publication, the following described
the Checkers 2000 game: ‘A
Classic Game for the Millennium'. The
Simplicity of Checkers. The Challenge of Chess.
Never the Same Game Twice.

The new Checkers 2000 game combined the simple
rules of a checkers game with the strategic
thinking and analysis of chess. The game board
in itself was unique in that it was a black
base in a diamond shape, wherein the corners
facing each player was curved inward to show
the starting position. The interior of the
board was comprised of a 6 x 6 grid of white
circular slots laid out diagonally on the diamond
base. On the second row of each side, an additional
circular slot was configured so that the checkers
2000 game board contained a total of 40 slots.

Checkers 2000 game checker pieces were molded
circular disks in contrasting colors of blue
and black but instead of plain, flat surfaces,
the checkers were concave in the center of
each piece. These playing pieces fit into the
slots on the diamond board and would then be
moved from circle to circle along the grid
in the same way that original checkers moved
its pieces square to square.
This year 2000 Millennium format,
although a new variant of a classic game, the
object was still to jump and capture opposition
pieces but in this variation, the game objective
was to jump and capture the opponent's number
12 game piece.
According to the manufacturer’s description,
the Checkers 2000 game
set up options gave the players more than four
billion possibilities in the moves they could
make. That’s
quite a checkers challenge.
